Certified Coach of the Month: Richard Aldrete
Jul 16th, 2007 by Taryn Reppert
Richard Aldrete has been an Etcheberry Certified Coach since October of 2006. Richard is currently the head coach at Cabrini College Men’s program located on the mainline Philadelphia, and he also is coaching the seasonal tennis camp Tennis Farm in the spring, fall, and summer. Richard was also an area training coach during its inception in the early 80’s, staffed for Birchwood Racquet Club, and during that time until moving to Philadephia he was staffed for Germantown Cricket Club for most of the 90’s. Richard also teaches English in the City of Philadelphia and has been coaching at Cabrini for four years.
By developing a general program of using agility, sprints, and plyometrics along with core and gym workouts Coach Aldrete was able to reduce injuries this year which was essential because he had only six comptitive players on his college team and could not afford any injuries. Personally, the workouts have helped his own hip and shoulder injuries and his court movement as well as the team’s. In the summer he teaches many new adult and junior players so he was able to incorporate some station work once I aquired the Power Builder, a couple of medicine balls, and the use of cones. Even with just a few equipment pieces you can make a hard workout!
Congratulations Coach Aldrete on being the Certified Coach of the Month, and good luck in all of your upcoming Cabrini matches!
